Finishing Touches! - A trailer, promo images, and polish

So, one final devlog after the launch for all the little things! I'm excited!

  1. I did capture some footage to make a little trailer. It's being uploaded simultaneous to this devlog and is also on my YouTube channel!
  2. If anyone is interested in that kind of thing - the devlog will be released alongside the postmortem.
  3. I've also included a little snippet for late game content for an ending.
  4. I added some more pictures to the game's itch page to showcase a little more. I did want to do this earlier than... well, now, but I wasn't sure what all I wanted to reveal. I didn't want to give away too much!
  5. There was a tone of extra stuff I did last minute to try and make the game as complete as possible for the jam:
    1. UI for the block combination puzzle. Originally, I was just going to use some black boxes with the opacity reduced, but I didn't like how unpolished it was, so I made some UI so when you did the puzzle, it all came together nice.
    2. I also completed an extra song because I couldn't resist the temptation of having a little fun...
    3. I gathered some extra sound effects and had to edit a few.
    4. A made a new background to make one section come together a little better.
    5. Had to make last minute changes to a major character sprite.
    6. Edited songs and ambience for volume, although my headphones are cruddy so this might not have come across the way I wanted in the final version.
  6. I did end up pulling an all-nighter the night leading up to the day of submission. I was dead tired from staying up late to work on it, but this is what I get for not crunching sooner!
  7. I submitted 1 hour and 20 minutes before the deadline (before the deadline was extended to October 1) and this was definitely nerve wracking - especially because I had a couple of last minute scares, including a splash screen script that I forgot to attach properly and completely forgetting how to use Inno Setup for packing the game into an installer. It wasn't helped by some of my option menu items not working for me. I wasn't able to change the resolution or toggle full screen on my build but it worked for my friend, whom I sat back and watched play the game for 2 hours after the submission haha.
  8. I am currently ongoing with hot fixes for known issues. If anything isn't working, please let me know.

Anyway the sleep demon is settling in because I'm running on 4 hours of sleep and an energy drink for breakfast so thanks to all who participated, thanks to all who helped, thanks to anyone who plays the game, and thanks to anyone who rates the game! I'm going to go to sleep for about 16 hours and then I might consider finalizing the game guide and post mortem before I take a long, well earned break.
