The End of 2024...

Well! Long time no type! The past year and a bit has been a blur of a lot of personal issues I won't go into detail about - long story short everything was on an extended hiatus while I figured things out, and waited for voice lines from my lovely VA's.

Some of you may have noticed I also started a new project, Tardigrade Takeover, This was after the hectic events of life came and went and I was waiting on my VA's. But rest assured, Tardi Takeover is on its own hiatus until RH is completed. I've spent nearly 5 years on it's development, a lot of it was spent waiting around because I didn't want to release what I considered an unfinished product, and was determined that, after 2 other visual novel releases for game jams, I wanted to finish this game if it killed me.

But I'm still alive and here's what you can expect:

  1. I know I've said for the past few years that I was getting close to finishing. This time, I really am. Mechanics have been hammered down, there's no more room for feature creep, scripts are being updated and made better, all for the grand finale.
  2. That being said, there's no official release yet. Probably some time Q2-Q3 2025. But I hope not. Honestly, this game has been hanging over me for years because of how long it's taking to finish. I have other projects that I feel guilty about working on because I said I never wanted to be that person who started 1000 projects and never finished one. I have 2 game jam projects that can attest to me not being that person, but RH was my first project, it was over scoped, full of feature creep and me thinking "I can do it, it's not that hard", and it wasn't that hard. It was just a lot lol.
  3. Right now, I'm working on revamping scripts, and as I go through things, seeing what I haven't done yet and adding it all to one big list for me to track for when it really is time to finish things up and polish. As I work in other mediums with game design, learning 3D design and how things work in a world space that isn't 2D, I learn new things naturally. So it's helped me see my inefficiencies for what they are so I can make things better. This was my first game after all.
  4. Once that's done, it's on to assigning voice lines, properly working through best friend/romance scripts and stories, and then, a saying I've said so frequently I might tattoo it onto my body at this time, playtest my life away.
  5. I'm getting so close to finishing this game, that I'm feeling so much relief. It's been a labor of love. And sometimes not love. These days, it's more not love. But we're almost there.

Thank you all for those who've helped, who've been around, who've shown interest, who've given me their wonderful voices, who've stood around while waiting for me to pick my fingers up off the floor to program. I appreciate you all, and I hope that I see you all on the other side soon. <3

Until next time!
