August 23 - 31: Ramping Up Development!

- August 23
- I've spent way too long dilly-dallying along not knowing what to do next with Rainbow, and really, I just need to do what's necessary. And what's necessary is moving forward! So. Regardless of the state of the trello board, I'm going to start working on other locations, character designs, and story revamping in order to push forward and get this game into gear. It's been nearly a year since I started heavily working on these devlogs and I'm not doing enough despite the time I've had. Time to change that so we can move onto bigger and better things!
- Despite writing the above - I did take today off from developing because everyone in my house fell ill, and I needed a bit of a break after 2 solid months of working on AOMT, my game jam project. So developing will probably heavily start tomorrow for RH. :)
- August 24
- You ever just not do any developing for 2 days straight and feel guilty so you do house chores instead as if that's supposed to help your game get made faster? No? Just me? Ah crap.
- I forced myself to start work on the gift sprites. Just sketches for now for the 38 of them, not sure how many I'll get through tonight but I have to do something.
- August 25
- Every Wednesday is bad day at work, because it's review day for this dumb incentive program they have that I don't care about, but can't opt out of for some reason. So because of that, I didn't do any development again. I made cookies and was a depresso expresso for the rest of the night.
- August 27
- Sighhhhh. I'm just going to skip over the days where I get nothing done instead of complaining about them. (Proceeds to complain about them). This week was a bad week. I'm sure next week won't be any better, but I'll put in the effort when I find the enthusiasm for it. I work tomorrow, and I work next Saturday September 4 too, which means I work two 6 day work weeks in a row. I'm pretty exhausted thinking about it. It's frustrating that I can't afford to take vacation time because they pay us out on vacation on our cheques, and I use every cent of my check to pay bills. So every day off I take means I sacrifice a bill payment to take it. "Prioritize your mental health, prioritize your mental health." Lmao. Sure. I'll take a mental health day. And then in the meantime while I'm on that day off, I'll just destroy my mental health further by getting behind with a phone payment, or not having enough for groceries. Eat the rich, my dudes.
- Got gift sprite concepts done. Next is to do proper lines, color and shading. It would only take about 1-2 hours to do all of them, so I might push myself to get that done either tomorrow or Sunday.
- August 30
- I finished the first 12 "standard gifts" sprites. 26 more to gooooo. These are surprisingly taking a lot longer than I expected. Not sure why.
- August 31
- Finished the other 26 image sprites. These ones seemed to go faster. I'm not sure why this is. Maybe it's because I've been disassociating while I'm working on them. Maybe that's Tiktok talking. I've been spending too much time there and every other video brings to light the symptoms of ADHD I have apparently.
- Next is inventory UI for the Sampod, which only allows you to carry about 6 items at a time, as well as the UI for the store where you can buy the items, which will provide access to the standard gifts every day at an unlimited amount, but only 2 special gift items that will be randomized. I've done concepts for this today, and the official work on it starts tomorrow.
