The Holidays (Uh, December)

We begin with continuing to work on the last of the character interactions before moving on to anything else. Because this is the most tedious portion of making the game, second to the art and third to the writing, it's taking me a bit. I'm trying to make each person unique, and each interaction different, but bounds are some are going to be the same.

  1. As of December 3, there are 7 secret character interactions left to finish.
  2. I did start ramping up a bit more pre-production development for my next project. Mostly just written concepts and story points. And I have my next project after that lined up as well. Sigh. Soon. Soon I'll be working on a 3D game haha.
  3. Well, the creative gods seemed to have subdued the procrastination demon within me today (still December 3 at the time of writing) and I have only 5 characters left to finish interactions for. I just might get this done before new years hahaha.
  4. So... I added one more feature. Wait, wait, wait... let me tell you something LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING!!! - it's easy to implement. Not much more than 5 minutes of programming. I can hear the fellow game dev's coming for me hahahaha. Basically... one of the characters, if you break up with them, they curse you. That's all I'll say on the matter haha.
  5. As of December 7 I finished the remaining character interactions. FINALLY.
  6. I was considering going through to configure story lines, but I'd rather not touch the story lines or do anything to do with outfits/bestfriend story lines until I have voice lines. That way, I only have to run through the story lines once and can add/change things all together. AS A REMINDER: I have an open casting call here, if you're interested in voicing one of my characters. :)
  7. I also started slowly filtering through the many auditions I've received for various characters, and have begun to cast them to those I think work the best. I'm trying to do it in stages so I don't get confused. This batch was 4 out of 37 remaining characters that need a voice.
  8. Instead, I started work on the remaining mechanics/story bits that I missed on the first pass, which includes secret character hints, additional character sprites, and buttons that I decided on after the majority of other similar items had already been designed/made.
  9. After this... going through my Trello board, I realized everything I had left to do was focusing on or related to having voice actors. Going through story lines, adding voice lines to sections, making the best friend routes (which needed the voice lines). So I'm putting in extra effort in casting my remaining characters. If I can't find anything by January's end, I'll have to decide if I want to cut the voice acting completely, or only include the voice lines for what I was able to cast, while, of course, still providing credits to those who helped regardless.
  10. Honestly with the holidays and trying to job hunt, I wasn't able to get much done this month. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas/Happy Holiday/Fantastic December, so we'll revisit things in January.
