Programming Galore!

  • July 27
    • I sneaky sneaky snuck in some programming while clocked in to my day job because I'm obsessed and gotta make the most of a really dead work day like I did yesterday~!
  • August 1
    • I'M BACK. TECHNOLOGY. SOCIETY. SHOWERS. We went on a 4 night 5 day camping trip. My phone died the first day, my switch died the second day. I had the technology equivalent to alcoholic withdrawal (I guess I could have just called it technology withdrawal) because I was BORED OUT OF MY MIND. Don't get me wrong. I love camping. I love the marshmallows, camp food, fresh air, the reconnection with your family and the disconnect from the world. But I've only been home 3 hours and air conditioning rocks, my computer rocks. Showers RULE. And not smelling the equivalent to 1000's of other people's human waste all stuffed into a hole in the ground every single time I open a toilet lid really is the highlight of my life right now. At the time of writing this, I'm charging my phone. Charging my switch. And starting a shower so I can get clean, change into some fresh clothes, order dinner because we're all dog tired (and don't get me started on how tired the actual dogs are), and then I'll be sitting down at my computer to become anti-social again and get back to working on AOMT.
    • The voice actor for Danny sent in all of his lines. I got a taste of the last of them on July 28 because he sent them as I was heading out of the city and as always, I'm super dee-dooper impressed. So I'll be making sure to send him a huge freaking thank you!
    • I ran through and separated all of Danny's lines for the ones I liked best  I ran through half of Danny's lines and separated the ones I liked and then got tired and settled down with a relaxing game for the night while watching "Willy's Wonderland" for... scientific reasons. I went to bed. I was too tired to start anything. I'll do it tomorrow hahahaha.
  • August 2
    • Okay, now again with feeling and for real this time - I finished running through Danny's lines. I'm still waiting on the lines for 2 characters, but those should be in today so I can cross that off my list of things to do once I have those.
    • I'll be working on programming mostly today. The rough-in's are in place for how the flow of the game should work but it's just fine-tuning, and adjustments that need to be made. The hardest part to program will be a little number puzzle about halfway through, and that's not even hard to program, it's just the time it takes to implement and test and will likely be the only part of the game where I hand code an actual script document, rather than let Fungus handle the interactions for me.
    • I ended up not getting much done today, because I was troubleshooting a really dumb issue. I really hate that programming is literally a single digit/tick box away from collapsing the project haha.
  • August 3
    • One of my dogs was sick since early this morning, so I've been up since 4 am dealing with that. I'll doubt I'll be getting too much done and will just be taking it easy today because I really can't focus on 4 hours of sleep.
    • Back to work today. Yay. I hate it. A friend of mine gave me an idea for my game projects as a kind of joke, and I decided I wanted to roll with it. So I went back to edit one of the backgrounds for the game because even though this is just a game jam project, I still wanted to include it. It's a funny little thing and I'm sure you'll all notice it right away, so I'm not going to give it away.
    • I started on the first pass through of all the different sections of the game, jotting down notes and things to change/add as I play test them in Unity's play-mode. The base build was adding in the story and dialogue as well as arranging choices and variables. The first actual pass through includes adding in the sprites and voice lines as well as doing a general check over for all effects, transitions, and anything additional that's needed, as well as ensuring that paths, dialogue, options etc function like they should.
    • While I got parts 1 and 2 done to at least 95% yesterday, I managed to get parts 3, 4, and 5 completed today to about 90% completion. What this means is that excluding a lack of voice acting, audio/music/ambience tweaks, and minor programming, the parts are complete. Part 5 needs a puzzle, and I'm waiting on lines and there's some programming needed to be completed outside of the puzzle. part 3 and 4 are done aside from audio tweaks. Now am tired. I'm gon' take a nap right here. GoodnIGHT.

All of my Tomorrow's is well on its way! I'm expecting to have all programming completed by the end of the week and will have all other tweaks, and additional effects and tweaks finalized by the end of next week. From there, it would just require extensive play testing but based on the simplicity of the game, I doubt it would require much or have any break-ability from players/myself.

The end is near~!
